Deflazacort (6 Mg)

The oral steroid Defza 6 tablet is used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). It strikes in early childhood. With the disease progression, the ability to walk is lost as early as age seven. Defza 6 tablet belongs to the group of medications known as steroids.

DMD is a progressive disease and is characterised by muscle weakness. It is also used in the treatment of various disease conditions. It is used in autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus, hepatitis, and sarcoidosis.

Defza 6 tablet is the choice of drug for children due to advantages like less effect on growth retardation. It also has fewer side effects and specific medicinal activity. Defza 6 tablet contains deflazacort as the key ingredient which is responsible for the main function and activity. It also helps improve the quality of life in DMD patients by reducing the incidence of surgeries and maintaining the strength and growth of bones.

Defza 6 tablet is used in the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DMD is an inherited disorder. It is characterised by severe muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and disabilities related to the heart.
Autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (characterised by an immune system attack) and sarcoidosis (characterised by a mass of cells formed due to inflammatory conditions). Joint, muscular diseases like rheumatoid arthritis can be treated by a defza 6 tablet.
They are also used in the treatment of some types of cancer.

Directions for Use of Defza 6 MG Tablet 10

Follow the directions your pharmacist or doctor provided for using Defza 6 tablet. Below are the general instructions for reference.

Take the tablet with a glass of water.
Swallow the tablet as a whole, do not crush or chew it.
This medication can be taken with or without, but taking it at a fixed time is advisable.

Defza 6 tablets can be taken orally.

Headache - mild headache is a common side effect of Defza 6 tablet. It goes away with time. But if it’s severe, then consult your doctor.
Acne - Skin reactions are common with Defza 6 tablet. It will go away with time, but if the problem persists. Consult your doctor in case of questions.
Upset stomach - Stomach upset is a common side effect of Defza 6 tablet. It will go away with time. In case it is severe, contact your doctor.
Dizziness - Feeling drowsy does not usually need a doctor’s attention. It will gradually resolve over time.

Managing the Side Effects:

Headache - It can be managed by applying a pain balm, a head massage and having a short nap.
Acne - if severe, needs medical attention; if not, apply ice cubes to the skin, apply an acne face pack to reduce the symptoms and keep your face skin clean.
Upset stomach- it is treated by taking the tablet with food, and drinking clear fluids in short breaks will reduce stomach upset
Dizziness - sit or lie down immediately when you feel dizzy, and lie down with your eyes closed in the dark for some time.

Defza 6 tablet is a prodrug. After entering the body, it is converted to the active form by binding to receptors to express anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects on the body. The anti-inflammatory effect is due to the inhibition of certain chemicals which cause inflammation. Immunosuppressive property reduces the sensitivity of the immune system.

Pregnancy

Over Dose

Missed Dose

Store this medicine at room temperature (15-25ºC).
Protect it from light and moisture.
Keep Defza 6 tablets away from children.

A 4-6 weeks gap is required between a live vaccine and taking Defza 6 tablets.
