Itracip 200 Capsule is used mainly to manage various fungal infections. It's part of the antifungal medication group, known as triazole antifungals.

Besides the primary use, it can also be employed to manage fungal infections affecting different parts of the body, including the mouth, throat, lungs, fingernails, toenails, skin, eyes and other internal organs. The medicine is designed to help in dealing with these infections by killing the fungi causing them and preventing their further growth.

Inhibits lanosterol 14α-demethylase: Itraconazole works by blocking an enzyme called lanosterol 14α-demethylase in fungi. This enzyme is crucial for producing ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane.
Decreases ergosterol synthesis: By inhibiting lanosterol 14α-demethylase, itraconazole effectively reduces ergosterol synthesis.
Weakens fungal cell membrane: The reduction in ergosterol synthesis weakens the structural integrity of the fungal membrane leading to increased permeability and impaired fungal growth.
Fungal cell death: The weakened membrane causes eventual death of the fungal cells hence clearing up the infection.

Pregnancy

Itracip 200 Capsule is not recommended during pregnancy. If you're pregnant or planning to conceive, consult your doctor before starting this medicine.

Breastfeeding
