Composition

Levocetirizine (5 Mg)

Lecope Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called antihistamines. It is used to manage allergic conditions such as seasonal allergies (hay fever), perennial allergies (year-round allergies), and urticaria (hives). This tablet helps relieve symptoms of sneezing, itching, runny nose, and watery eyes due to allergies.

It is more effective and safer than some of the first-generation antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine and chlorpheniramine. It causes less drowsiness and other side effects compared to first-generation antihistamines.

This tablet has a longer duration of action and can provide relief for up to 24 hours with a single daily dose. It is specifically beneficial for people with severe allergy symptoms. Some side effects may be noted with the use of this tablet, which should be timely informed to a doctor. Any allergy to this tablet, existing diseases and other ongoing medications should also be brought to the notice of your doctor before this tablet is prescribed to you.

Lecope Tablet is used in the following conditions:

Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever): Lecope Tablet can effectively manage the symptoms of runny nose and sneezing due to pollen, dust, or other environmental allergens.
Perennial allergic rhinitis: This tablet also controls perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms. It is allergic rhinitis that occurs year-round due to dust mites, pet dander, and mould spores. Lecope Tablet helps to reduce itching, swelling, and redness due to perennial allergic rhinitis.
Chronic idiopathic urticaria: Lecope Tablet is also taken to manage itchy, red, raised hives on the skin.

Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
Do not change your dose of Lecope Tablet or take it more often than prescribed.

Lecope Tablet is taken orally as a tablet.

Lecope Tablet is safe when taken in the recommended doses. However, some individuals may experience side effects. The side effects of this tablet are mild and fade away on their own. The common side effects include:

Fatigue
Drowsiness
Dry Mouth
Headache

Managing the Side Effects:

Lecope Tablet contains the following components:

Levocetirizine (5mg): It is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction. Histamine causes sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itching, and watery eyes. Lecope Tablet blocks the effects of histamine to reduce allergic symptoms.

Pregnancy

Lecope Tablet should be taken cautiously during pregnancy. Before taking this tablet, pregnant mothers are advised to consult with their doctors.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding mothers should not take Lecope Tablet. It can pass to the infant through breast milk. Before taking this tablet while breastfeeding, it is recommended to consult your doctor.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not recommended while taking Lecope Tablet. Alcohol can add to drowsiness and tiredness due to this tablet. It can also worsen the side effects of this medication.

Liver

Patients with liver impairment can safely take the Lecope Tablet. No dose adjustment is required in such cases.

Kidney

Patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment should cautiously take Lecope Tablet. Dose dose adjustment may be required in such cases. Those with end-stage kidney disease and patients undergoing hemodialysis should not take this tablet. Inform your doctor if you have kidney impairment before taking this tablet.

Using Machines & Driving

Lecope Tablet may cause drowsiness and affect your ability to operate machinery or drive a vehicle. Therefore, avoiding any attentive task is recommended after taking this medicine.

Allergy

If you are allergic to levocetirizine, do not take Lecope Tablet. Read the label and check the ingredients in the tablet to avoid allergic reactions.

Children

Lecope Tablet is not intended for children below 6 years of age. If your child is above 6 years old, consult your doctor for the dosage before giving this tablet.

Older Patients

Lecope Tablet can interact with Medications, including

Medicines to treat HIV infections, such as ritonavir. This medication may increase the blood concentration of ritonavir.
Bronchodilators such as theophylline. This tablet can cause a decrease in the clearance of cetirizine.

Lecope Tablet can interact with Diseases, including:

Severe kidney disease: This tablet is excreted by the kidneys. The risk of adverse reactions to this tablet may be greater in patients with impaired kidney function.

Daily Dose

Take the daily dose of Lecope Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Over Dose
