Montek LC tablet is considered safe and effective when guided by a doctor. However, some people may experience mild to severe side effects of Montek LC. Those having a medical history of an allergic reaction or heart, liver and kidney disease must be cautious before taking Montek LC. The Montek LC side effects include:

• Diarrhoea: Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and eat bland foods like rice, toast, and bananas. If the diarrhoea persists or becomes severe, consult your doctor.
• Skin rash or itching: Avoid scratching the affected area and apply cool compresses or aloe vera gel to soothe the skin. If the rash is severe or spreads, consult your doctor.
• Increased appetite: Eat healthy, balanced meals and snacks throughout the day to avoid overeating. Avoid tempting, high-calorie foods in your home, and speak to your doctor if this symptom persists.

Precautions

PREGNANCY

Montek LC tablets should be used with caution in pregnant women. There is limited information available on the safety of Montek LC in pregnancy. Therefore, pregnant women should use Montek LC under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider may also recommend alternative medications or safer treatment options during pregnancy.

BREASTFEEDING

While Levocetirizine in Montek LC tablets is safe during pregnancy, very low levels of montelukast from Montek LC appear in breast milk and are safe for babies. However, if you are a breastfeeding mother, consult your doctor before taking the Montek LC tablet.

ALCOHOL

Montek LC tablets are generally safe with alcohol, but caution should be exercised. Alcohol can cause sedative effects of Levocetirizine, which may lead to drowsiness, dizziness, or impaired judgement. Additionally, alcohol can worsen some side effects of nausea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid or limit alcohol consumption while taking Montek LC.

LIVER

Montek LC tablets should be used cautiously in patients with liver disease. In a person with liver dysfunction, Montek LC ingredients can be eliminated from the body without treating the disease. Discuss your condition with a doctor. He may adjust your Montek LC dose according to your liver condition.

KIDNEY

If you have kidney disease, consult your healthcare provider before taking the Montek LC tablet as the drug may accumulate in the body and cause adverse effects. Otherwise, it may take longer to be eliminated from the body, leading to drug toxicity. 

USING MACHINES AND DRIVING

Montek LC may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or impaired judgement in some individuals. Therefore, operating machinery or driving a vehicle is not recommended until the effects of Montek LC wears off. 

ALLERGY

• Fluconazole - It is a medication used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections. Montelukast may have increased plasma concentration when taken with fluconazole due to the inhibition of its metabolism.
• Miconazole - It is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal or yeast infections. Montelukast may have increased plasma concentration when taken with miconazole due to the inhibition of its metabolism.
• Voriconazole - It is a medication for fungal or yeast infections. Voriconazole can increase the level of Montelukast and its effects. 
• Amiodarone - It is a medicine used to treat abnormal heart rhythm. Amiodarone may increase the blood levels and the effect of Montelukast.
• Diphenhydramine - You may experience dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating when taking diphenhydramine and levocetirizine together.
• Duloxetine - You may experience dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating when taking duloxetine and levocetirizine together.

Before beginning Montek LC tablets, discuss with your doctor about prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are consuming.
