Salytar Solution is a keratolytic agent, which is primarily used to treat skin disorders such as psoriasis, dandruff, and seborrheic dermatitis (scaly patches and red skin on the scalp). Salytar Solution helps to prevent skin hardness, thickening, and scaling. Psoriasis is a skin condition in which skin cells proliferate up to ten times faster than normal, causing bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. The scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back are frequently affected. Salicylic acid (peeling agent) and coal tar are both present in Salytar Solution 100 ml (keratoplastic). Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medication that softens, separates, and peels the cornified epithelium or horny layer of the skin. Salicylic acid moisturises the skin while also dissolving the component that causes skin cells to cling together. It softens the skin by breaking down keratin clumps, removing dead skin cells, and removing keratin clumps. Salicylic acid is also a topical antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. It removes corns and calluses and cures acne, dandruff, and seborrhea (scaly areas and red skin primarily on the scalp). Coal tar is a member of the keratoplastic medication class (thickens the keratin layers). It works by eliminating dead cells from the top layer of the skin and reducing the formation of skin cells. This action reduces scaling and dryness, alleviating itching caused by a variety of skin disorders.
