The following are the side effects associated with Tablet O2:

1. Gastrointestinal side effects:

• Nausea: Nausea is a typical side effect of Tablet O2. It is a feeling of discomfort in the stomach that may be accompanied by an urge to vomit.
• Vomiting: Vomiting is also a common side effect of Tablet O2. It is forcefully expelling the stomach's contents through the mouth.
• Diarrhoea: Tablet O2 may cause diarrhoea, a common side effect. It is characterised by loose, watery stools that occur more frequently than usual.
• Abdominal pain: Abdominal pain is a common side effect of Tablet O2. It is a pain or discomfort in the area between the chest and the pelvis.
• Bloating: Bloating is a common side effect of Tablet O2. It is a feeling of fullness or tightness in the abdomen, often accompanied by visible swelling.
• Dyspepsia: Dyspepsia is a less common side effect of Tablet O2. It is characterised by discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen, often accompanied by bloating, nausea, and belching.

2. Central nervous system side effects:

• Headache: Headache is a frequent side effect of Tablet O2. It is a pain or discomfort in the head that may accompany other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, photophobia and increased sensitivity to sound.
• Dizziness: Dizziness is a typical side effect of Tablet O2. It is a feeling of lightheadedness or unsteadiness that may accompany other symptoms, such as nausea and sweating.

3. Skin and allergic reactions:

• Rash: Rash is a common side effect of Tablet O2. It is a red, itchy, or irritated area of skin that may be accompanied by other symptoms such as blistering, swelling, or pain.
• Itching: Itching is a common side effect of Tablet O2. It is a sensation of irritation or tingling on the skin that may accompany other symptoms such as rash, redness, or swelling.

Some side effects can be mild and go away independently, while others may require medical attention. If you suffer from any of these side effects while taking O2 tablets, talking to your healthcare provider is essential. Additionally, seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe or life-threatening side effects, such as an allergic reaction.

Managing the Side effects

• Diarrhoea: Drink lots of fluids such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve. 
• Nausea and Vomiting: Follow simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried or spicy foods. Take an O2 tablet before or after the meal. Do not sleep right away after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom persists.
• Dry Mouth: Limit your caffeine intake. Sip water regularly and intake other sugar-free liquids. Avoid smoking or using tobacco products. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.  
• Headache: Drink enough water and avoid skipping meals. Take adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress-free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom continues.

Precautions

PREGNANCY: 

Strictly not recommended for the use of O2 tablets in pregnancy. The potential side effects of O2 can harm the health of both the mother and the developing foetus. If you are planning pregnancy, consult your doctor before taking O2 tablets.  

BREASTFEEDING:

O2 tablets are not advised for breastfeeding women because the effects of these tablets on breast milk and nursing infants are not well-known. Consult your doctor for advice before taking O2 Tablet. 

ALCOHOL:

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking O2 tablets as it may worsen your symptoms of sleepiness, dizziness and eyesight problems.

LIVER: 

O2 tablets should be taken cautiously in patients with liver disease. Individuals with liver disease may have difficulty processing medications, which can increase the risk of adverse side effects. Consult your doctor for advice before taking O2 tablets. 

KIDNEY:

O2 tablets should be taken cautiously in patients with kidney disease or problems. Consult your doctor for advice before taking O2 tablets. 

USING MACHINES AND DRIVING:

After taking O2 tablets, you should not drive or operate machines if you have symptoms like feeling dizzy, tired, sleepy, temporary loss of consciousness, less alert, a spinning sensation in the head, impaired vision, shivering, abnormal body movements and seizure/fits.

ALLERGY:

Do not take O2 tablets if allergic to Ofloxacin or Ornidazole. Also, inform your doctor if you are allergic to other quinolone antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin.

USE IN CHILDREN:

O2 tablet is not suggested for use in children and adolescents under 18. Consult your child's doctor for advice.

USE IN OLDER PATIENTS:

O2 tablets should be used cautiously in elderly patients. Your doctor will decide the dose, duration and frequency of O2 tablets depending on the severity of your existing condition and other comorbid conditions.

Interaction:

1. Drug-Drug Interactions: 

• Anticoagulants: Tablet O2 may increase the effects of anticoagulant medications, such as warfarin, leading to an increased risk of bleeding. Patients taking anticoagulant medications should monitor their blood clotting time closely while taking tablet O2.
• Antiarrhythmic medications: Drugs such as quinidine or amiodarone when taken with Tablet O2 may increase the risk of arrhythmias. While taking tablet O2, patients consuming anti-arrhythmic medications should monitor their heart rhythm carefully.
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Drugs like ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen when taken with Tablet O2 may increase the risk of seizures. Patients taking the NSAIDs should be cautious when taking tablet O2.
• Theophylline: Tablet O2 may increase the effects of theophylline, a medication used to treat asthma and other respiratory conditions. Patients taking theophylline should have their blood levels monitored closely while taking tablet O2.
• Antibiotics: Azithromycin, Trimethoprim+Sulfamethoxazole, Metronidazole, Erythromycin may increase the risk of toxicity in the body if taken along with Tablet O2.
• Anti-diabetic: Metformin, when used with Tablet O2, may produce blood sugar fluctuations as well as lactic acidosis, an uncommon but serious disease.  
• Diuretic drugs: Furosemide, when taken along with Tablet O2 can increase the risk of nephrotoxicity (toxicity to the kidneys) and may lead to electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia (low potassium levels) and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels).
• Bronchodilators: Albuterol, when taken along with Tablet O2 can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects. Albuterol can cause tachycardia (increased heart rate) and arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms),

2. Drug-Food Interactions: 

• Dairy products: Dairy products, such as milk and cheese, may reduce the absorption of ofloxacin, one of the active ingredients in tablet O2. Patients taking tablet O2 should avoid consuming dairy products for at least 2 hours before or after taking the medication.
• Alcohol: Tablet O2 may increase the effects of alcohol, leading to an increased risk of dizziness, drowsiness, and impaired judgement. Patients taking tablet O2 should avoid consuming alcohol while taking the medication.
• Caffeine: Tablet O2 may increase the effects of caffeine, leading to an increased risk of nervousness, insomnia, and irritability. Patients taking tablet O2 should be cautious when consuming caffeine-containing products like coffee or tea.

3. Drug-Disease Interactions:

• Seizure disorders: Tablet O2 may raise the probability of seizures in people with a history of seizure disorders. Patients with a history of seizure disorders should be cautious when taking tablet O2.
• Liver and kidney disease: People with liver or kidney illness should use Tablet O2 with caution. Dose adjustments may be necessary based on the individual's liver or kidney function level.
• Myasthenia gravis: Tablet O2 may aggravate symptoms of myasthenia gravis, which leads to muscle weakness and fatigue. Patients with myasthenia gravis should be cautious when taking tablet O2.
